School Personnel
To make a better world, a world we all want, we can’t do it without you. And we full heartedly believe we can create that world. We’ve been to the moon and back, we’ve survived civil wars, we absolutely can do this.
But YOU, dear school professional, you mean more to the people of your community than you’ll likely ever know. Our community members value public schools because they value the people in them. Don’t take our word for it. Since 1999, Gallup has conducted a nationwide poll regarding parent’s satisfaction of public education. On average across those nearly 25 years, 76% of Americans are satisfied with their child’s education.
Further, enrollment in public education is at an all-time high of 83%. Yet when asked about their view of public education (as an institution), the scores are poor with 54% dissatisfied. Curious.
In a related study, when asked whether they agree or disagree with the following statement, “teachers are professionals who should be trusted to make decisions about classroom curriculum,”75% of respondents agreed. Similarly, when asked if they approve of “teachers in their local public school district,” 71% of parents K-12, and 63% of total surveyed agreed.
There are plenty of people telling stories about what is happening in our public schools. The truth is, your story IS THE story, and it needs to come to life. When blended with stories across our communities, an honest picture of how kids are doing and what their needs are can help shape what our actions need to be.
